God's White Light

Back when I was going through my "N" Level exam, I had this pretty high fever and a very bad asthma attack which caused me much difficulty in breathing. My two friends who were with me than described to me that my face was turning pale and my nails were slightly purplish. They rushed and carried me to the clinic just in time when I passed out. However, during the moment when I passed out, I couldn't see anyone at all beside me but what I see was this white light covering up the entire neighborhood from above that even the leaves were in white. I looked up to the sky and even though it was brighter than the sun, it didn't hurt my eyes and I cannot describe how peaceful it felt.

A voice than started to speak gently to me from above, telling me everything was going to be ok if I just lie down and that was when I started to see flashes of my life going on from behind my back. And when I turned around and look at all this flashes, I know something was definitely going on. Though I felt this intense peace which I never felt before, I know I don't wanna leave my family so I told the voice that I don't wish to lie down and the voice said to me, "If not, than just rest on the couch in front and everything will be ok."

And that was when I noticed a couch appeared just touching my knees, but I still rejected it as I don't know what will happen if I did and just decided to hold on so I could maybe be with my family again. Suddenly, I started to feel myself getting lighter and began to float up to find myself waking up inside the doctor's office instead with oxygen mask on my face and some medication was injected into me. After that day, I start to believe even more that God is real and what He said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

Now watching this touching video posted by this boy, Ben Breedlove, who cheated death three times before he finally passed on to meet Jesus on Christmas night, solidify what I been through that evening. Watching the videos makes you realize how precious life really is, and that all of the world's biggest problems really don't matter, at the end of the day.

On 9/18/11, this sweet little boy, Jamey Rodemeyer killed himself, he was only at a young age of 14 and he had a whole future ahead of him. I looked at his pictures and I couldn’t see by looking at his face what there was about him that would threaten someone enough to bully him. Hate on him and drive him to suicide. But he got bullied to death just because he was bi. Nobody deserves to be treated like that. Please don't hate. Appreciate. We are all different.

A Visit To Wimbly Lu

Yesterday, my relatives, mum and I paid a visit to my cousin's upcoming chocolate cafe located at 15-2 Jalan Riang, known as Wimbly Lu. Wimbly Lu is a huge achievement and investment for my cousin, Weebin, who decided to leave her old company and invested most of her savings into this chocolate cafe with her best friend, Lu.

When I received a sms from her last week to head down for a sneak preview before the cafe will be officially opening on Sept 23th, I agreed immediately to be there and give her my support. I also managed to get a Kikki.K's baking organiser, which I thought will be useful for my cousin to keep track of all her fav baking recipes, or any handwritten notes.

Wimbly Lu will be officially opening soon and I hope all my friends or anyone who had read about this post and are a huge chocolates lover, or someone who wanna look for a cosy spot for some nice dessert and drinks, don't forget to stop by Wimbly Lu. Wimbly Lu cafe offered hand-made chocolates, crepes, pancakes, sandwiches, coffee, beer, wines and so much more. Until than...check out some of the photos I captured last night.

For the first time, three of them combined their money and get me my fav sculpture by Auguste Rodin, "The Thinker", but it is a miniature version and the coolest part of it was the birthday card.

The 3 and 1 on the card can symbolized my birthday 13, or my upcoming age, 31, or even my 3 friends equal to 1 haha. Cheesy leh.

Hi all, I would like to share this video that touches me tonight. It's about a 68 years old granny who learnt guitar very hard just to perform a Faye's song live on national TV. And the point for all her efforts was just to dedicate it to her late hubby that had passed away 6 years ago. It really touches me.

Love is truly an incredible thing. It makes one able and strong to do the impossible things and know that everything will be ok if the person you care about is ok. I really hope someday I will get to meet the someone who cares for me, and I care for too.

Some Tips For You & Me To Heal

There are many programs, who teach you how to start with men/women, what to say on the first time and how to make yourself more attractive to boys/girls. What they don't teach is how to get over someone who is not attracted to you or that doesn't love you back.

Having a crush or being infatuated with someone who doesn't feel the same for you happens to almost everyone even to the most handsome and famous guys and in most cases it can be a painful and agonizing experience. So here is a list of tips on how to get over someone you love who doesn't love you back. These advice really helped me a lot. The advice is equally true both for men and women:

1. Get your mind off of him/her. The most important thing is not to be alone. Surround yourself with family and friends, the people who love you unconditionally and spend more quality time with them.

2. Ask yourself what might be in his head or his heart; it takes two people to be in a relationship and even though you feel the way that you do, maybe it was meant to be this way. Save your love for someone who feels the same way about you!

3. Love is a peculiar thing. There is an almost ludicrous asymmetry between two people. The person at the top of your best friend list may rank you only at the middle of his or her list. However, if you truly, truly loved someone, then you'd be able to realise that it's OK if they don't love you back. True love gives and expects nothing in return; a true unrequited love. So, I've moved on from my perfect potential companion. He gave me the strength to realise that I can move on. He gave me the courage to try something different. He gave me the wisdom and sense for me to also respect myself. So, if you truly loved them, it doesn't matter if they feel the same way, your love conquers all.

4. For all those wondering what went wrong just stop wondering say it really aloud "SHE IS JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU". Only when one stops chasing and pursing someone who doesn't love you, will you open the door to that perfect person who will love you back with the same intensity that you will love him.

5. It's not about getting over a person, it's about feeling good about yourself. It's about knowing that you are the most important and you need to be happy. If this other person doesn't feel the same way, it doesn't really matter.

6. This situation is always an unfortunate one. It is ideal for 2 people to love each other the same, and at the same pace, but life is never ideal. To get this kind of relationship to work, you need patience! you have to weigh either waiting for her or moving on as options. If your feelings are real, and you choose to hang in there, you must not scare her away with your feelings! If things are meant to work out, you should be great friends before lovers anyway. While you let both your feelings reach equilibrium, you'll find it becomes easier sometimes just to ignore your strong feelings for her and just kick-back and chill with her. It's not always important to impress her, or do nice things for her in a loving way. It may give you hope to know that she can see you in the same light, just not so quickly.

7. Try to find and see the flaws in your love object. When you're infatuated with someone you see them as a completely perfect, flawless person capable of doing no wrong. Remind yourself that your image of them is quite irrational. The madness of infatuation creates many unrealities. You perceive your love object as vastly more wonderful than is real. Learn to see that your love object has faults, flaws, and the normal number of human quirks. Remind yourself that your image of this person is unrealistic. Remind yourself also that no one can live up to your imagination. The more you remember this the sooner your will get your feelings much more in proportion.

8. If you belive in destiny then you have know that things happen when they are meant to be. People part for reasons beyond human comprehension but the reality remains if you are meant to love each other and be with each other, it will happen. That's the power of destiny. Love always wins. Love is important and only it counts.

9. The older I get, the more I believe that some people are full of the capacity to love and others are incapable of it in the romantic sense, for whatever reason. Fear of committment. A distorted view of freedom. The desire to stay young forever. A deep unwillingness to give themselves over to another (aka, selfish). It is an absolute rock and a hard place. Loving someone who doesn't love you back is the most impossible situation imaginable, especially when the love is so strong you are a slave to it.

10. Deal with reality. Stop hoping, dreaming, etc. Pray and tell God that you forgive them for not being able to love you. Ask God to take this from you - and He will. Then continue to deal with reality. Don't tell yourself, maybe someday... they'll change...

11. True love accepts the person for who they are, even when they are bad and they don't love you. It means accepting reality. When you love and accept reality at the same time, you are forced to move on. When you deal with reality and move on without love, you take bitterness with you. When you love without dealing with reality, you hurt yourself. Love the other person, Accept the reality and pray to God for the wisdom and strength you'll need to do that continuously until it ceases to become a problem.

12. There is one more thing I can recommend. There are times when you feel very weak and feel you need to talk to that other person even though they may have just hurt you again, you don't know why you want to talk to them, you just do. I've been able to get by these weak moments by writing down exactly what I'm feeling at the time, it comes out in a jumble of feelings and thoughts, some not so pleasant, but in the end it actually helps and I don't feel to call the person anymore. For everyone out there, keep strong and keep your head up, there are better days ahead.

13. Remember that life goes on. You had a life before them and you will have a happy life after them. It's up to you whether you want to keep dwelling on the past or just keep moving. Memories can haunt us but the best way to deal with them is to bury them where they belong, in the past. You've got to start looking to the future.

Not sure why but ever since I saw this miniature replica version of the famous Thinker's statue at a shop last week, I have been thinking of getting it for myself. Well basically, I am never an arts person, as in I don't invest or buy any art pieces for collection but this statue really makes me thinks otherwise.

Personally, I like the thoughts and efforts placed in by Auguste Rodin back in 1902. The body language, the mood and everything were captured fantastically. It depicts a man in sober mediation battling with a powerful internal struggle. The statue is also often used to represent philosophy. Oh man, I really gotta see the real piece in person at Paris someday. Meanwhile, this art piece is selling at $449. Too ex for now. Gotta save up money first. :-)

Rotary Evolution Watch

Got myself a brand new piece of watch today via an online watch portal known as the First Class Watches. It was back in Feb when I chanced upon this watch while looking for some birthday gifts to get for my buddies, Xinxin and Kevin. But however as the price offered was rather steep, I decided to give it a miss until I saw it again at First Class Watches.

What caught me the most was the black dial face of the watch which I thought is very slick and cool. It was only until the sales assistant brought the watch up to me than I know it's actually a Swiss made reversible dial watch from Rotary, that allows one to change the watch face to match their mood or clothing. I really likes it a lot and hope to receive it soon.

Nikon Rimless Titanium Spec

After looking at a number of specs, I finally decided to get myself a new pair from Nikon. This is my first rimless titanium spec and I thought it looks kinda neat and light. I am not really a spec person, I prefer contact over a frame on my face but this time round, I feel it is ok.

It is not easy to look for accessories that are a perfect combination of style, comfort and durability. I was told from the sales assistant that when we talk about durability, there is nothing better than titanium. It is super lightweight, super thin and is stronger than steel.

For my lenses choices, I chose to make mine with Crizal Advanced lenses. It was heavily advertised that Crizal Advanced lenses by Essilor eliminate the 5 elements of clear vision such as reflections, scratches, smudges, water and dust. Personally, I doubt it can 100% remove all this elements but I believe it is slightly better than other lenses.

Before heading to Hong Kong last month, my friend, Kevin and I decided to get for ourself an iGongZai figurine. Basically, iGongZai are custom-made figurines using real pictures of yourself and the designers from there will make a caricature version of you and than create a three-dimensional poly-resin figurine for collection.

I got a new pair of running shoes today after being recommended several times by my gym buddy, Minghan, about how good the Reebok Zigtech running shoes were and seeing even my other gym buddy, Randy, also had gotten his.

I finally decided to get mine as well with Kevin today as my old shoes were quite beaten up. Personally, I thought it was quite an energetic looking shoe and was quite comfortable.

Chinese New Year 2011

The annual CNY celebration is here again and this time round, my cousin Weebin decided to bring in the infamous Yu-sheng for all of us to add prosperity and huat-ness during our celebration. It was indeed a wise choice as I can see all of us were having a great time, especially our grandmother.

Weebin told us that maybe for next year we will be having the celebration at her cafe instead of having it at her place like we usually do as she will be opening a cafe with her best friend, Lou by this coming June at Serangoon. We were all pretty excited for our cousin cos she has been working in the TV industry ever since she graduated from the university. She is currently a producer for ESPN Sport.

Weebin told me that the reason she decided to move out cos she don't see herself in that job for the next 10 years and while she is young, she wanna venture something else. Most probably I will be helping her with some of the design works that she might need.

Alright, I am going to meet my buddy for lunch so just wanna take this chance and wish everyone out there a wonderful Chinese New Year and may good health and fortune be fell upon you. Enjoy the CNY.

Fitness First Experience At One George St

Today, right after the church session with Kevin ended, I met up with Xinxin to collect the gifts she got for me from her recent Japan trip. As usual, my best friend, Xin's gifts are always in abundance. This time round, she got me a Donald Duck monitor wiper, a coin, two pairs of Calvin Klein socks, and a Calvin Klein handkerchief (how cool is that?). I thought they are all very nice, especially the handkerchief since most of my friends should know, I sweat very easily haha. Anyway, I appreciated the gifts a lot. Thanks Xin.

Gifts From Xinxin's Japan Trip...

After a good catch up with Xin over lunch, I met up with Kevin again as we wanna try the Fitness First gym at One George St together. After working out for like about an hour, both of us feel that the gym is indeed as great as its views, a lot of the machines I don't think we ever use before, eg one acts like you are rowing a boat. It really works my back muscles very well.

Our reviews are the same, it is very sophisticated, good machines, sauna, free flow of drinks, hair gel, shampoo, gym attire provided, and a swimming pool just outside the gym overlooking a beautiful scenery. After much thoughts, Kevin finally decided to go for it and sign a year contract with them. The membership fees cost SG$142 a month (before 7% GST). It is definitely a huge step for him and I hope he will stick to it, develop a habit, join the group exercise and don't give up. As his friend, I will keep encouraging him and hope to see a new him soon.

Anyway talking about habit, this is something I learnt from my pastor today, he said this..."Habit. You removed the H, you still have Abit. If you removed the A, you will still have Bit left. And even if you removed B, you still have It." I thought what he said really make sense.

Have you been watching the latest season of American Idol? If you do, I believe you might had saw this incredible love story between a contestant, Chris Medina and his fiance, Juliana, who suffered a car accident that caused injury to her brain. His love to his fiance really touches my heart and I respect him totally.

It wasn't easy finding such a guy out there nowsaday. He has a big heart and may the Lord above bless his fiance with a speedy recovery. Americans, do vote for him if possible and friends out there, do pray for his fiance as well. Thank you.

2011 New Year Countdown

Times passes pretty quickly, I still remembered I was just celebrating the New Year countdown with my friends Xinxin and Dis at Lai Mei Zhi's steamboat on Dec 31st 2010...and now January is about to leave us very soon. Initially our plan back than, was to have a KTV session together with Kevin but it wasn't easy getting a room, and Kevin was also caught at work. So in the end, we decided to just head for a good dinner and than chilled out at a cafe in Selegie Street which my friend, Minghan bought me there last time with Randy to celebrate his 27th birthday, Mr Bean.

I still remembered when I told both of them that we will be heading over to Mr Bean after the steamboat for a drink, they thought that I was actually proposing to them to go to a place for tou hua - like the traditional soya bean stores that was also known as Mr Bean in Singapore. Haha, I know pals that even though I wasn't a cool person who go to pubs, but I do know some cafes ok? :-)

Well, I am glad to bring them there, to have a great time enjoying the drinks while playing poker. I actually bought the poker along just in case we need something to pass the time. Xin suggested maybe next year we should book a hotel room and play mahjong in there together, but I don't think hotel will allow that, most probably a chalet should be able to do it.

After our drinks, we proceeded to a Hong Kong dessert shop just opposite Mr Bean for supper. And this time round, I had tou hua and it tasted really great. :-) Later in the evening of the New Year, I also attended my buddy when we were in our active unit, Zihao's wedding at a club in Jurong. Being the only invited friend from the unit, it was kinda awkward at first sitting with the rest of his friends, but nonetheless, I still feel appreciated to be invited. Thank buddy and hope you like the gift I got for you.

Fitness First Experience

Today, Kevin and I headed over to Paragon Fitness First together as we wanna try the gym, and considering if we should sign up a membership with them. This wasn't the first time I for me at Paragon Fitness First. I used to give it a shot together with my friend at work, Chris, but back than, I am not really a gym person, so I don't really know what am I supposed to do. But now, after working out for so many months, I feel more comfortable when I am in a gym.

The reason why I decided to check out Fitness First again is because I think that if I wanna reach my goal fast, I cannot just depend on a Thursday gym session with my friends. I need to workout even more, but traveling all the way to Tampines by myself wasn't very easy for me if I were to do it. So maybe signing up a gym membership which will encourage me to hit the gym more often when I am free. Eg traveling to Paragon, or AMK Hub is easy for me. There are rumours saying that they will open up another branch in Toa Payoh as well.

August 13th Also Happens To Be My Birthday...

From what I see, it wasn't that bad being a member with Fitness First, cos imagine if you are out in town, and all of a sudden say you decided to hit the gym for awhile as your friends might be late. All you need to do is just bring along your training shoe and the gym will provide you everything from your gym attire to the basic towel. Everything is a breeze working out there. They also provide DVD rentals, group exercises, and so much more. However, if I were to sign up, it would cost me about $135 a month. Haiz, that is quite a sum of money, so gotta need more time to think it thru...

A Great Interview

Caught this interview between Faye and a China reporter this morning before heading to work. The full interview hasn't been aired yet but from the brief snippets itself, reminded me why I like her so much. Faye has always been direct and honest, to say exactly what she feels instead of what others might want to hear.

Consequently, we trust her, believe in her, and admire her. It's not easy being someone like that, especially in the entertainment industry or even in an office setting like where I am. Hopefully someday, I can be as confident and comfortable with everyone I know. The interview really start my day right. I laughed along at some of the replies she gave. Kinda also reminded me of a good friend at work, Denise, who is also someone that are very genuine and honest.

Got Myself A Monkey

Last Friday, after the second day of my reservist, I met up with Dis at Raffles City for dinner and while waiting for him, I chanced upon this Chinese Arts exhibition which is still going on at Raffles City till the 22nd. Browsing around the huge selection of different artists's artworks, one aunt's collection caught my eyes and they were actually beautiful artworks hand-painted onto tiles which you can choose to display it on your desk, or let it hang up on your wall.

After seeing the hard works they put in and believing that they could get a sale, I decided to give the aunt a little moral support and bought a piece from her. The piece I bought was actually a monkey which also represented my Chinese Zodiac, it costs me $25 but it is okay. Anyway my friends out there, if you are free, do pop by the exhibition on level 3. There are just too many talented people out there and their works are amazing. Don't miss it.

How's everyone Xmas last year? For me, I had a couple of nice moments while exchanging gifts with my buddies last year. Glad to say, I received a lot of wonderful gifts from my colleagues and friends but I couldn't managed to put everything here on my blog, but I still give credit to them on my FB instead.

It is really fun to open up gifts and got surprised by the gifts my friends could think of. I received numerous surprises, especially the one from my bro Chris and Kevin. Very funny man. This morning after I woke up, I saw my friend posted this latest Marvel Vs Capcom 3 trailer on his Facebook Wall, revealing the new character of the upcoming game, Phoenix. What amazed me other than the graphics were the opening and victory comments by her.

Before the game started, Phoenix said: "You are about to deal with forces you can't possibly comprehend." And when she finally won, this is what she said as well: " I've destroyed whole planets, so what chance have you got." Haha, it's really up to the core of her character, arrogant and powerful. By the way, do also watch out for her transforming to Dark Phoenix when she used her full powers. Can't wait to put Storm up against her someday.

Was feeling abit down and decided to search for some Faye's video hoping they will pick me up. Gladly to say, I managed to find two songs performed back in 1993 and 1997, it really helps, listening to the performances.

Marvel Vs Capcom 3: Storm

Today, while I was searching for an image of Storm to design a Xmas card featuring her summoning the snow for my colleagues, I came across this Marvel Vs Capcom 3 game trailer. I didn't managed to do the image in the end as I thought it would be more appropriate to come up with something more festive instead.

So anyway back to the clip, I had a blast watching it while waiting for my half day work to pass me by. This is the first time I heard about the game and was very happy to see that Storm seems very powerful in it. The game, titled as Fate of Two Worlds will be releasing most prob in Feb next year. The graphics were amazing, so pals who enjoy playing the X-Men game like me, do check out the three new combo powers from Storm. They were awesome. Breathtaking to be exact.

About a month ago, my client, Powerplus was interviewed by Enterprise Asia, a Channel New Asia program showcasing local business entrepreneurs. During the interview, you will get to see many different posters hanging around the office and two wall mural designs that were done by me.

Sad to say, I didn't managed to watch the show when it was on TV until yesterday, when Xinxin told me that they had placed the program on their company website. If you ask me, I am really happy to see my works appearing on the show. The feelings is good.

Finding Myself Slowly

Today, I got to see something which I been working very hard for the past few months displayed at a parent's fair in Expo. They were actually a set of four different Christmas gift sets and also a promotional standee that was meant to hold the gifts set together. I remembered when I first received the brief, I was told to come up with something fairytale-like but not too festive-looking as my company might want to sell the gift sets after the holiday season ends.

The Three Proposed Ideas...

So after brainstorming with what I think could and could not works, I finally came down to three different ideas and proposed them in an advertising layout to allow my marketing team to visualize which they think would work best and able for me to cast the selected concept onto the gift sets and standee. After my presentation ended, we got to choose my fav concept of the group, The Magical Enchantment, which was inspired by the Avatar movie about a love tree that attracts all animals to it. If you look at the packaging, you will get to see the animals running towards the tree. Even though it was tedious to take on this project at a short notice but I felt really happy to see them at the fair today. It was amazing especially when I saw some mothers bought a box for themselves.

But however, don't know why after I returned to office, I felt abit down and started to reflect a lot about my life. I felt that I am 30 years old but I still don't really know what I am going forwards to, or who I really am. I remembered once I had this MSN conversation with my brother, Shen, who told me that he feels that I am one of his most caring friend he ever had and he is proud to have me as his friend. A statement like that to tell me I actually meant something to him, I felt very grateful. A sense of belonging.

My mum asked me this morning, "Boy, is the $500 in the wallet for me?" I replied," Yes mum, another $50 is for dad, and $50 for brother." Than my mum replied before she heading out to work at 5.30am," Haiz you huh, slept so late, than I just called you and you awake immediately." I told her," Orh, is ok. No problem." Than I returned to bed and wake up at 6.30am for work. Sometime I feel that maybe my life is to provide for my mum and brother since my dad hasn't been working for so many years. Maybe I should be glad already to provide for my family but sometime, I just felt so small in this world, like no one really knows me or cares for me.

Sometime, I wish to go find a new job but if you ask me what is the reason, I cannot really tell. Is it about more pay? Is it about the location? Honestly speaking, I am just a diploma holder, no matter how much more than my current company could pay, it won't be a bigger deal. And location wise, where than is better? I think this two things are not so important after all, I meant for my situation. Than is it about being an Art director but I don't think I am that great to be one yet.

Than feeling small and all, I decided to just head home and ponder through but when I met my colleague Theresa at the lift, she told me she is taking a ride with another colleague, Fion's car to Hougang cos she is attending a growth service at a service centre there. And I not sure why but I just got into the car too after Theresa told me to just go with her. At the service, I got to learn something which I thinks indirectly helps me. The pastor was sharing about the door of our heart. He asked us to visualize our heart. Is it made of glass? Made of wood? Or something else. What does the sign said on the door? Welcome? Do not enter? Or the person no longer stays there? I visualized and see my heart as a gate, something like a jail door and when Pastor asked us what is the name of the door called? I replied in my heart as fear. Than he told us to share with the person in front of us about our door, but I didn't really do it. There were so many things behind my door which I kept to protect my family and friends for so many years and it is just not easy for me to share. However, the person in front of me told me something else. He told me that sometime in life, we don't really open our door cos we prefer the comfort of the darkness and not willing to jump onto the light. Than I ask him is it that we just jump forward to the light? He said nope, but once you try, you make a difference to a lot of people's life.

Theresa told me that she felt the Holy Spirit is trying to guide me to something and I told her, yes, I feel that I should give my good friend a sms to tell him I am sorry for all the things I put him through and hope he will forgive me. But till now, I still couldn't do it. I don't know why but I just kept visualizing how if I sms my friend, he would be unhappy and spoilt his weekend. Or how insensitive I am to disturb him. But in my heart, I feel I am ready. I will try and apologize to my friend soon cos he is really very important to me. He is a great friend worthy of my time. And hopefully if I am able to do it. My friend will welcome me back and we can la kopi and drink beers together again.

Faye Heals Me In Her Own Way

It has been a very stressful start for me this week, there were just too many, too many projects which all fells on a very tight deadlines. At office, I am just a designer up against five person-in-charges, sometime, I feel that I am like running a never-ending marathon alone, satisfying as many people as I could but no one really cares if I am ok with everything or not. They just kept it rolling and rolling with more and more works. Haiz, but also can't complaint much since it is still after all, my job.

Anyway, when I got home, I decided to find some videos of Faye's recent performances at her Shanghai concert on Youtube to de-stress myself, and man it was a blast, totally 听出耳油！Other than wearing interesting headset, the most important factor of all was that her voice is back and better than her Beijing's stop.

Below are three performances which I personally enjoyed the most. Do enjoy them if you can. At the end of the concert, we could also hear “Heart Sutra” and see a video featuring a white lotus, but we don’t get to see Faye. The song is dedicated “to them,” victims of the recent Shanghai fire. Lastly, do also watch this 1998 performance whereby Faye performed a beautiful song known as, 花言巧語. It brought peace to me when I heard it and I can't help but repeated a few times after I found it online today. Alright friends, have a great week ahead.

Weight Loss Diary 23 - 30

For those who are following my weight-loss journey, it has been awhile since I last updated my weight records onto the blog. Ya, I am still hitting the gym with my friends, Minghan and Randy every Thursday without fail but however, I have been busy to place the records online. So finally, today is the day. Even though my weight hasn't come down to 73kg yet, but so far I noticed a number of good changes on my body.

Both my friends and I noticed our muscles mass seems to increase and personally for me, I felt lighter than before, we believed it could be the protein powder we took together after gym that aids us to reach our fitness goal faster.

So friends, there will be time when we could only crawl, there will be time when we could only managed to leap, but there will definitely be a time when we run as well. One way or the other, we will all reach our finish line someday if we keep going forwards.

Mum Performing On TV

The Stage Design Compliment My Mum's Dress...

Today is a holiday but I spend the entire afternoon staying at home because I am waiting to see my mum performing on Channel 8, 黄金年华之歌如人生 at 3.30pm. This is the first time my mum performed on TV and we are all very excited about it. It is amazing.

Actually, my mum recorded her performance a few weeks ago together with her good friend, Aunt Jasmine, who also appeared on the show. And by the way just to let my friends know, my mum is not really a fan of Cai Qing or dreamt about Zhou Gong like in the interview but these are what the TV program asked my mum to say.

Faye Wong 2010 Beijing Concert

Faye Wong 2010 Concert Tour began last Friday in Beijing's Wukesong Arena and I was actually given one of the concert ticket at the eleventh hour because the company that brought in Royal Wind's shampoo gave me a call and told me that maybe one of their client might not be able to attend the concert, however, they can only confirm with me on Thursday morning, and if it is a yes, I would had to settle my own plane, hotel stay and fly directly to Beijing at night because the concert would opened on Friday, at 8pm.

Upon hearing that, I felt so happy because maybe I could travel to Beijing for the first time and also to see Faye Wong again. But after I got home and did my research, I am surprised to know that the weather is only 2 degree celsius and I had no choice but to give up the chance because it has already been very rush for me to get myself a hotel, air ticket and let alone, a right jacket that could protect me against the cold. Nonetheless, I still researched a lot about Beijing and glad to know Beijing do have their own MRT system which to me is very important if it is a first time traveling to a country alone. Country like Jakarta doesn't have such facility.

So to give myself another chance to see Faye again, I took part in the Royal Wind's Faye Wong's concert tickets contest today before heading to work. If chosen, the lucky winner will be getting a pair of Shanghai air tickets together with a pair of concert tickets. I am praying that I will win and most probably be going together with Dis as Xinxin would be attending a two weeks trade fair with her company in Shanghai. To attract attention that the organizer will pick my envelope, check out the envelope I did. :-)

My Lucky Draw Application...

At 41 years old, Faye's charm has only increased with her age. Her stage setting for the show cost an estimated 30 million. Following the theme of her concert, her songs were divided into five different segments to represent the passing of the four seasons as she approaches her rebirth. From the brisk coolness of winter, the songs progressed into spring, summer, and fall, before finally reaching her rebirth.

After the long winter, spring finally arrived as Faye reappears with an outfit change, the screens behind her filled with images of butterflies. With nine screens in the background, each of them could be controlled individually to paint different pictures for the audience. Many special effects were used in her concert, including 3D technology and lasers. Faye also sat on a swing which carries her high above the stage while performing "天空". Known for speaking little in public, Faye only said 'thank you' throughout her concert. For the two hours she was on stage, she sang a total of 23 songs, with no encore at the end.

Starting off the show with the melting of an ice age, Faye appeared onstage ready to break free from the cold as she sang with a crystal microphone stand which cost thousands of dollars. Faye's outfit was pure white and she wore a hat which resembled a nun. She sang her first song '只愿为你守着约' as snowflakes began blowing across the stage.

As a fan, I am always excited about the first song which she will perform to open the concert and to my surprise, she picked that song which to me is a good choice. Just imagine her voice singing that while the snowflakes dropping around the fans and imagine if I was there that night. Haha...alright just hope for the best bah. :-)

Shiloh Touches Me

Got to know this incredible little girl on TV last night, Shiloh Pepin, whom had passed away last year was born with a congenital disorder that her legs are fused together like a mermaid. She was born with almost no large intestine and just a small piece of her kidney. She has no rectum, no vagina and no bladder.

Throughout her life, Shiloh faced unimaginable challenges, like the painful kidney dialysis that she went through for two years and yet she didn't let anything beat her down. Shiloh had a love for life and her laughter is so infectious. What amazed me the most was when I got to hear so many strong words from a young little girl. Words like "You never know until you try...", "What we are inside is what that make us a star." and when the nurses were crowding around her and having a hard time figuring how to paste the poo bag onto her body to let her pass out her bowel, Shiloh said, "It is ok, I will read the manual for you to help me..."

It is really amazing for someone so young to be so calm and accepting that she is different from the rest. God bless her soul. Little brave Shiloh, rest in peace. You had inspired a lot of people with your incredible story. I am one of them.

Meet Up With Jefferson

Yesterday after work, I met up with my friend back in army days, Jefferson, who just returned from the States to renew his passport. This wonderful friend of mine will be returning to New Jersey on Oct 20th, and we don't know when we will be meeting up again cos a tix to and back Singapore could cost Jeff about $2000 or more. I still remember the last time we met was back in 2007, and it is a normal practice for whenever Jeff is back in Singapore, we will definitely try our best to catch up.

Sometime, I feel it is good to catch up with friends whom we had lost contact for so long, it reminds us that we must have been so blessed to be able to be friends in the first place. I first got to know Jeff when I was posted to HQ 54 SAB. He is the storeman in RQ branch, while I was the workshop guy, from workshop haha. Jeff has always been a nice guy, though not much people are willing to try and understand him cos back than, his tempers were usually quite bad but if you were to give him a chance, he is actually a very kind and sincere man, thus we can be friends for so long. Jefferson is a great man.

During our catch up, we talked about so many things and I am very surprised that he actually took quite a few jobs in the States. Life must have not been easy for him. And as his friend, I am very concerned. I told him about me now working in Pigeon, and what kinda stuffs I do for the past one year plus while I am there. Finally after our dinner ended at Aston Suntec City, we continue our chat till the night at Macdonald Raffles City with my friend, Kevin. Kevin also met Jeff before during my army days cos back than our unit had a retreat at Pulau Ubin and I happened to ask Kevin to join us together. That is how he got to know Jefferson.

It was a memorable night for all of us and I will miss my friend when he is away. But lucky now with Facebook, haha, we actually add one another on that night, I believe we will be well-connected. Stay positive bro, I will keep you in my prayers for sure.

Celebrating Minghan's Birthday

Yesterday after work, I met up with my friend, Randy to celebrate our brother, Minghan's 27th birthday. Even though it was a belated birthday celebration, both of us still wanna give the best for our buddy. As suggested by Randy, all of us first met up at The Cathay to have our dinner at Astons while it was also the first time for me to try the food there. It was amazing that the queue was incredibly long, and we had to queue for quite awhile before we were able to get our seats.

After we had our dinner treated by Minghan, we were supposed to catch a movie but however as the timings wasn't that great, we than decided to head down over to Mr Bean for a drink or maybe grab a bowl of touhua later. Surprisingly enough after we hanged around for a short while at Mr Bean, all of us were feeling a bit stoned and tired. At Mr Bean, we actually took quite a few photos together but many didn't really manage to make it up on the blog. At about 10pm or so, we finally decided to make a move. I believed the reason being all of us had a tired day at work.

Last but not least, do check out the gifts we got for Minghan. As his friend, I know that he recently got himself an iPhone 4, and as he is also someone who really like to play guitar a lot so I decided to get him a yellow colored iPhone case which had a guitar graphic imprinted on while yellow also being his fav color. Mh told me that he really like it a lot while Randy also managed to get Minghan a set of Parker pens he wanted. :-) Anyway, it was once again a day well spend with two of my very nice and funny friends.

Today, my friends Mariko, Dis, Xin and I went to catch the latest Julia Roberts's movie, Eat Pray Love. It's a movie that many of us are looking forward to ever since we know it is going to show in Singapore. Inspired by a real story of a woman who decided that one day, she just wanna give herself one whole year off and travelled around at three different countries to rediscover herself.

A beautiful movie with many inspiring moments while Julia Roberts is simply gorgeous to look at even at her age. Do catch this movie and let yourself go with Julia Roberts. It also have a nice soundtrack and beautiful sceneries to accompany as well.

Fitness Gloves & Whey Protein

Today, I got myself a pair of fitness gloves and also invested on a bottle of whey protein at GNC. The fitness gloves itself costs $26.75 while the whey protein by Optimum Nutrition costs $58. The reason why I decided to get protein for myself was because after I understand that if we drink protein right after our workout, it will helps to built our muscles better and also to aid in faster muscle recovery.

So I thought that well, since whey protein will do me good, I just decided to get it. To be honest, it wasn't easy at all choosing the right whey protein so I decided to just settle for the one that costs the least haha, and also since the taste that I chose is going to be chocolate, it shouldn't be too bad after all. Anyway I tried it the moment I got home, it was ok.

As for the fitness glove, it was because after I started to notice that some part of my palm will swelled as pressure was placed whenever I lifted the weight. After discussing with my gym buddies, Minghan suggested to both Randy and I to get ourselves a pair of fitness gloves like him who got his from Taiwan. So today, I decided to shop for one while Randy has already got for himself one yesterday.

After trying out various type of designs I came across at different fitness stores, I finally decided to buy the one from Kettler as I thought that the overall look and comfort are better than the few I tried. Some seems overly dramatic to me. Dis who accompanied me today also decided to get one for himself as well.

After we purchased our gloves, Dis and I proceeded to Cathay Cineleisure as we wanna buy the tickets for tomorrow movie session of Eat Pray Love with Dis, Xin and Mariko. The queue was quite long but we finally managed to get the 1.20pm show with good seats at the end.

Lastly before heading home, I also managed to rent the movie thriller, Frozen, which is a movie which I always wanted to catch ever since it was last shown in the cinemas and I didn't manage to catch it. The movie is about three snowboarders who got stranded on the chairlift as the ski patrol switches off the night lights, than they realize with growing panic that they've been left behind dangling high off the ground with no way down. This type of movie story is always something I like cos it seems exciting and will allows one to think what if that person was you, it must be very pressurizing. Alright anyway, I can't wait to catch it later. Hope all of you have a great weekend as well. Cheers.

Yesterday, I met up with Dis as I intended to get him a present for his coming birthday on Oct 5th. Two years ago, I also got him a wallet as well from Braun Buffel which had already started to wear off and I decided that maybe now is the time to get him another wallet again to replace the old one.

After much consideration, we decided to get it from this brand known as Tocco Toscano at Metro Paragon. Though I had never heard about this brand before but I am glad that he really likes it very much. However, as I had already passed the gift to him, thus I didn't managed to get a picture to share it here on my blog. Maybe I will try to take a photo of it when I meet up with him next time.

Nonetheless, I would like to share another wallet which I happened to chance upon while searching for Dis's gift. It is from this brand which I had never heard before as well, that kinda deals with pens and pencils. The brand name is Caran d'Ache. Their collection of leather goods simply caught my eyes and I kinda fell in love with one of their wallet and keychain haha.

But sadly to say, the wallet is rather steep considering the fact that it wasn't really well known at all and it cost about $359 while it's keychain is priced at $59. Haiz, very ex. I would need to save more money before I can even consider of getting them haha. Vegan lifestyle Wubing !!!

After headed back to Yishun, I met up with Kevin to try out the new fast food restaurant which opened recently at Yishun Golden Village, Wendy's. As Kevin had already tried them before, he recommended me to try their chilli beef and it turns out not bad for a side-dish order.

I believed the sales will turn out well for this fast food restaurant considering that they offered a lot of things which I think locals will like, eg baked potatoes. Alright, I will end my post for tonight here. Hope everyone will have a good week ahead.

Last Friday, I met up with my good friend back in camp, Zihao. He is the first friend whom I grew close with when I was first attached to Kranji Camp. And seriously speaking, I cannot imagine how my early life would be like in my unit if without him. Being my senior, Zihao guided me in almost every little things and took very good care of me as a friend.

And we still remembered when he first ORD, we were feeling sad in a sense cos it is definitely a great friendship but with the help of MSN, Friendster and now, Facebook. We were still able to keep in touch but it's very difficult to meet up with him since Zihao is attached haha, and also busy with his Master Degree and work.

So finally after much planning, we decided to meet up at Great World City as Zihao wanna introduced me to a Japanese Ramen restaurant, Bishamon. After a great meal and drinking the "happy" green tea, I told Zihao that I wanna checked out some of the gift stores there as I want to get two birthday cards for my friends. And lucky enough, I got two very great cards for both of them and will try to update it here later on my blog.

After finished the gift cards shopping spree, Zihao drove me to this place along River Valley and we had Starbucks together before heading home. Thank buddy for the makan and kopi treat. Next time it will be my turn. :-)

Celebrating Hagen's Birthday

September 19th is my cousin, Hagen's 30th birthday and being someone who grew up with him. I know he had been thru a lot of bad things in his life but yet he is able to rise above all of that and be better. So to celebrate his big 3, I wanna get him something and treat him a good meal to let him know that he is treasured.

But to be frank it was quite tough deciding on what gift to get for him so after some discussion with my friends, I finally decided to go with what Minghan suggested to me. A wallet, which is practical and ideal as a gift. So after hunting thru all the ok one, I finally got one from Braun Buffel. :-)

So on Wednesday directly after work, we headed down to Sizzler at Toa Payoh for the dinner I wanted to treat him. It was a good night spend with him, we chatted till about 11pm. Until our next catch up bro.

Been going to the church at Suntec City together with Dis for the past two weeks, it was enjoyable waking up to a Sunday and listening to the words from God which opened up my understanding towards His grace on me. It is also enjoyable to hear live music and sing praises to God with so many people together. I really hope I will continue going to church on a weekly basis cos seriously, I believe I need a lot of helps from God dealing with my life right now. A lot of issues from work, relationship, friendship and family that need His blessings. By the way, during one of session, I got to hear this song performed by Hillsong at church, known as Hosanna. After church, I accompanied Dis to Brash Basah as he wanna sell some of his books to a second hand book dealer and while I was there, I chanced upon a book that compiled a lot of phrases one can use to promote their business, I thought it is a necessary to have since I can use it to create attractive headlines that will grab my client's prospect's attention and so he could make a sale. Without much second thoughts, I got the book. I believe in the long run, it will do good for me.

Finally after much liberation as I spend quite a sum of money this month, I bought it. I bought the fourth season of Grey's Anatomy on DVD even though I had already caught this season before when Kevin lend me but ever since I been rewatching the past seasons which I had, and also borrowing season 5 from Kevin, and 6 from Dis.

I just feel I gotta keep all of them as they come by. And today, today is the day for season 4 to fit into my collection for this freaking awesome show that taught me so much about life, about love, about relationship, jobs, etc.

For many years, I been using a digital scale which gave me a different readout every time I used it. Eventhough it is fine to get an average out, but I decided that maybe it is time to get a seriously good scale someday. After started reading scale reviews and visiting stores that sell scales, I discovered that many people found the Tanita line to be accurate and provide a lot of relevant informations which could make the scale an outstanding tool to accomplish anybody's health goal.

As a treat to myself for losing 6kgs, I decided to purchase a Tanita scale together with my friend Xinxin and Randy. I am really surprised when my two friends also wanted to join me in being serious on getting the best information for our health together. So today, we met up with Minghan at Takashimaya directly after work as after we bought our scales, Randy & I will be accompany Minghan to collect his new cool Reebok running shoe as well.

The scale which we bought, Tanita BC542, is a state of the art scale that measures our weight, body fat, body water level, visceral fat, bone mass, metabolic age and muscle mass. It is very simple to operate. One simply input their height, weight, average physical activity level and age. The Tanita will remember this information for up to four people and there is also a guest mode if a friend wants to try it.

Once the scale had been programmed, one simply need to toe tap their number, step on the platform and we will able to see our weight and body fat measurement. Tanita also includes a guide with the scale that explains exactly how the scale works. The scale is a bioimpedence device. A low level current (which we don't feel) passes through our body and the impedance or resistance level is used to calculate body composition. The booklet explains healthy ranges of body fat and also explains what body water percentage, visceral fat, one should have to be healthy.

Thanks to my good friend Kevin who is a Herbalife member, we were really glad to make this purchase at a discount price of $151 instead of $268. After our happy purchases, Minghan, Randy and I visited a Hong Kong restaurant at Ion which I recommended them to try. At the restaurant, we were also surprised to see local celeb, Jacelyn Tay, coming to queue behind us for dinner as well.

After a round of delicious roasted duck and tofu, my two bros decided to head down to TCC at International Building for a good cup of Joe instead of beers because Minghan knew that I am not really a beer person while he also need to have an early rest since he will be one of the brother for his friend's wedding the next morning.

Today, my gym buddies, Minghan & Randy decided to change our gym process abit by starting off with the chest press first before moving out to do the rest of the machines.

This is the first time we changed our process and all of us feel that the end result is better by doing the heaviest set first. Most probably, we will be sticking with it for sometime before coming out with something new again.

Today, I met up with my three army buddies Pang, Yuanfeng and Yiyong for a wonderful session of good food and KTV. This gathering was initiated by Pang whom dropped a sms over to all of us on Thursday asking if we could catch up over the long weekend as it has been awhile since we last catch up around March. It is a pity that both Mike and Ah Bear couldn't turn up this time due to work.

We met up with one another at about 12pm at 313 Somerset Apple store before proceeding over to Ding Tai Feng for lunch. The lunch is great as we ordered a few varieties of xiao long baos, think about 3 trays and some other dim sum before going for our KTV session at Cathay KBox. Haha, this time round, I didn't really did much Faye's song, other than one, 笑忘书. Mostly the songs I picked are either from Tank, Coldplay, Jacky Cheung or Green Day. Can't believe I did Total Eclipse of the Heart. It was fun. 如果我變成回憶 by Tank is also a wonderful song to sing in KTV.

The best singer of the group of brothers is none other than Pang. He really can maintain his singing stamina for the past 4 hours inside the room. One hit after another haha. You must hear his lung power. Tough one. Haha. Finally at about 6pm after our singing session ended, we headed over to The Sun & The Moon restaurant at Wheelock Place for our dinner. The dinner itself costs me about $38 but it was really delicious. Must try.

After our weekly gym session ended with my friends Randy and Minghan, we proceeded over to a kopitiam located near Minghan's place as I will be staying over at his home to teach him some Photoshop tips and also how to set up his own personal blog that he can use to showcase his photography works.

At the kopitiam, Minghan happened to meet up with one of his secondary school friend, Calvin and we chatted till around midnight before proceeding to his home. It was fun sharing our oversea experiences and etc. Being Minghan's friend for so long, this was the first time I ever visited his place. It is really nice, neat and I am glad to finally able to see his two cool guitars and also his pet bird, Baobao. I think he should really hang that electric guitar on his wall. It will definitely beautified his room even more. :-)

At around 2am, we finally hit the bed as he needs to wake up at about 5am to meet up with Randy to take sunrise photos at Pasir Ris Park while I wait for a bus to bring me home. Though I had to wait from 5.45am to 6.23am before the bus finally came, it was still a wonderful experience hanging out with this group of friends. They really makes me laugh and we had an enjoyable time together.

On my birthday, some of my colleagues got together and gave me a huge birthday surprise at the office. This was the first time for me to celebrate my birthday with them and it was definitely memorable. I will never forget how I celebrated my 30th birthday. Feels really happy even when thinking about it right now.

Today, I visited the NATAS fair with some of my dearest friends like Xin, Dis and Kevin. This was the first time for all of us to go out to a fair like this together and it was really fun. Other than looking for places to visit for ourselves at different booths, I was also tasked by my office to take back some informations and brochures for our upcoming November company trip. It was quite tiring collecting all this infos from booth to booth but I know that this is the minimum I could do to help my colleagues to get the best place they could with our company's budget.

While walking through the booths, I was stopped by a friendly American and his daughter asking for some donation to support a charity known as the Make-A-Wish-Foundation. It is an organization that helps fulfill life-threatening children's wishes. Wish granting has a life-changing experience on children and their families and the impact reaches far and wide. Personally speaking, I think that it is for an important cause and eventually, I bought one of their charity bear to support the children.

Finally before heading home, Xin, Dis, Kevin and I headed over to Changi Terminal 3 for dinner and after we had our dinner, both Xin and I also each bought a Royal Wind's shampoo at NTUC to support our idol as well. It was a good day well spend.

Haha, feeling super happy as I got a really really good deal from Clarins today. Yeah, after paying for like just one promotion pack of the product I like, I receive about 20 pieces of samples from them and double bonus points.

Currently from now till Sept 30th, Clarins is running a promotion whereby if you spend more than $150, you will receive a 6pcs trial pack (see photo below) and if you are buying the product I bought, which is the Shaping Facial Lift, you will also get to receive a 3pcs beauty trial kit of your choice. It has been almost a month since I last visited the gym with my friend Minghan, but today after work, I decided that it is the time now to join him back and keep fit together again. Well, after skipping the gym for quite some times, I feel that it really affected my stamina a lot but I believe that it will be back soon as I progress.

So as for my weight in today, I am very happy to say that I had finally achieved 74kg! Seriously, it is really meant a lot to me as it is 6kg gone since I started going to the gym in late March this year and there is still another 6kg to be shed in order for me to reach the ideal weight of 68kg. Can't wait for that to happen soon.

Today after work, I met up with Dis to get myself a new pair of shoe for work. At first I still wanna give the shoe I last bought from Queenstown shopping mall another chance but it really give me a lot of pain thus I finally decided to just let it go or pass it to someone else who can fits it better and get myself a new shoe instead.

After looking at the varieties of shoes displayed at Takashimaya, I decided to stick with Hush Puppies as the previous Hush Puppies shoe I bought lasted for about 2 years and I also managed to get a 20% discount. So it aren't that bad after all.

Faye Wong's Royal Wind In Singapore

The past few months, I have been meeting up with a company that is bringing in a new range of shampoos, "追风", that featured my idol Faye Wong as the spokesperson. Being new to Faye Wong, the company would required some information from me on what do they need to market a product that Faye could represent, and also to share with me some of the visuals they already did for the launch.

We also get to discuss things like taglines, or what gifts should be giving away to build buying power etc. So far, I am really pleased to see so many Faye Wong's images around Singapore already and these are some of the images I had captured so far hehe.

Right now, it is still in the soft launch process. The official launch will begins only in September with a huge media blast that includes TV ads and newspaper advertisements. Do keep a watch out.
